This is our driver Santosh who cost about 15 bucks a day and put up with a whole world of grief from the both of us.. stop stop / back up please / do you think you could slow down / cross three lanes of traffic so I can get the actual shot??
And this is one of the classic signs we saw whilst driving around Jaipur.. wow so glad that they have AWAILABLE classes.. though I cant really understand why??
They really do have elephants decorated and they really do take them on the HIGHWAYS.
Rules of the roads are this - the bigger you are - the more you have priority, i.e. pedestrians fall at the bottom of the food chain. Except cows. Cows are gods around here so they can do what ever they want.
Right near the jewellery wholesaler we visited - only after telling them I had no money did I discover it was the same card from Katie and Jimmy vespers guide book. As you can see it was a very good part of town and I kind of wondered which poor persons jewellery I would be buying "wholesale"
If it wasn't noticeable in the western world here is proof that women actually do every thing here.. even work on building sites (see post for observatory). These ladies were hauling a heck of alot of stuff across the main freeway.
And Camels - of course there are camels here, they aren't as revered as cows but they move faster apparently - when they get going that is.
